Project overview
Bakers Joinery undertakes the restoration of village signs that are in a poor state of repair as well as the design and production of new ones. Recent projects have included the refurbishment and redecoration of a National Beacon for the village of Purfleet and the repair and redecoration of the village sign at Widdingon.
What we do for our village sign projects
Village sign refurbishment:
- 1. Collection, cleaning, sanding and repairing any defects
- 2. Hand carving where necessary
- 3. Full redecoration which will include colour matching and hand painting
- 4. Reinstating the village sign back to its village location
Manufacture of new village signs:
- 1. Design service involving working with our client to capture the requirements
- 2. Production of detailed drawings to scale to bring the sign to life
- 3. Hand carving the new design out of hardwood
- 4. Hand painting using special exterior paint to give a high quality and protected finish
- 5. Installation of the village sign in its rightful location
Project results
Our projects ensure attention to detail with hand carving, colour matching and hand decoration to ensure the sign retains its historical authenticity. We thoroughly enjoy working on these projects as each village sign is unique echoing the historical past of the village and is often a main focal point.
