Project overview

This charming listed thatched cottage had a mix of timber casement and Crittal windows, all of which were in a poor state of repair and offering limited thermal efficiency and security. The client wished to remove and replace all the windows. Timber windows were required as opposed to PVC.

What we did for this project

The project involved the manufacture of 20 new timber windows to the ground, first and second floor including two large bay windows and the rest flush casements.

As the property is listed, planning permissions were required. Bakers Joinery provided detailed window specifications and drawings which were used as part of the planning application.

With planning approval achieved, the windows are now taking shape in the Bakers Joinery workshop.

They are being constructed from hardwood with a traditional window grid design which mirrors the original windows design. The timber windows are all double-glazed units with multipoint locking system.

Project results

The new windows will modernise the cottage, the design of which ensures the character of the cottage is maintained.
