Our newest member of the Bakers Joinery team, Tyler Crawford achieved an impressive second place at the Essex regional SkillBuild 2024 competition. He will now be making his way to the national finals, which will take place in Milton Keynes this November.
SkillBuild, run by the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB), is a prominent multi-trade competition bringing together a whole range of talented individuals from the construction sector. The event tests technical ability, problem solving, working under pressure and time management. It is also designed to support career progression within the construction industry.
Tyler saw of some strong competition, constructing a carpentry piece that not only met the competition brief but also displayed a range of joinery skills.
For the final, competitors will be tasked with completing a project over three days, within an 18-hour time frame. The competition project will test their knowledge, skills and abilities ensure they adhere to health and safety protocols and will be marked by an expert panel of judges.
Paul Revill, Head of Bakers Joinery said: ‘This is a fantastic initiative that helps young people grow their skills and confidence.
