New project: Grade 1 Listed Church,

Renovation work has begun at the beautiful St Mary Church in Stebbing, Essex. The project involves a major internal restoration programme which was placed on the Heritage at Risk Register. The project is being carried out by Bakers of Danbury Heritage Builders.

This large scale project involves modernisation of the church including a brand new heating system, floor replacement, new lighting and disabled access all designed to create a thriving community hub.

The Bakers Joinery team are at the design stage ready to prepare and plan for the carpentry element of the work to begin after Christmas. The scope of their project includes:

  • Manufacture and installation of a new fitted kitchen
  • Oak cabinets for the new servery area
  • New oak and glazed church porch doors
  • Re-purposing of the original church pews into new benches
  • Cabinetry to house the new AV console
  • Cabinetry for chair storage

Paul Revill says ‘we are at the planning stage of the joinery while the Bakers of Danbury team starts the main building works.
